The credit can be disallowed if your modified adjusted gross income exceeds the limit, even when the vehicle qualifies. You may be able to use either the current year or prior year income test, but both must be within the limit to claim it. MSRP caps can also block the credit, especially when higher trims and options push the price over the threshold.
